Gaz Reseau Distribution France SA (GRDF) recently became a member of Operations Technology Development (OTD), now a global collaboration of leading natural gas utilities. OTD’s membership invests in research, development, and technology deployment that is focused on consumer benefit and impact. With the addition of GRDF, OTD’s members serve over 71 million natural gas customers in the U.S., Canada, and France.
Created in 2008, GRDF, an independent subsidiary of ENGIE, is a gas distribution company managing the downstream gas network that delivers gas to 11 million customers in France. GRDF designs, builds, operates, and maintains infrastructure in more than 9,500 cities while prioritizing the safety of people and property with a high quality of delivery.
“Known for technology development and product introduction in the natural gas industry, our membership in OTD will further our mission of safety and reliability for our customers,” said Christophe Wagner, International Director, GRDF. “We look forward to a meaningful collaboration.”
“We’re very excited to have GRDF join OTD,” says OTD President, Ron Snedic. “GRDF brings a long history of investing in R&D and new technology and are clearly recognized as a global leader in engineering and technology excellence.”
The expansion of OTD’s footprint into Europe with the addition of GRDF is an important step as the global need to deliver energy in a safe, resilient, and environmentally conscious manner has never been greater. Leveraging the knowledge, experience, and resources of our membership to meet these challenges is one of OTD’s core strengths as technology will play a major role in the global energy transition.
